In the beautifully designed Baccarat building on the "Place des Etats Unis" an extremely interesing cocktail event was experienced by the Leading Hotels of the World afficionados. Sommeliers from the Lancaster Hotel, the Bristol, the Fouquets to name but a few would use the new Baccarat wine glasses to taste thier chosen wines in a new way from a new angle. The glasses were outstanding for the experiment leading to a greater and deeper familiarity with the wines. I had the opportunity of creating special cocktails for the event. The first, a wet martini style cocktail with 8/10 Dry Vermouth and 2/10 Gin, garnished with a frozen cube of hybiscus water to evoke the famous octogon that you can find in the Baccarat chandeliers. My second cocktail, the Ponsenby, 4/10 Cognac V.S.O.P and 6/10 Tawny Port, a delicious beverage designed to evoke again the famous Baccarat red jewel!
