NEW YORK FOLLOWED BY MOSCOW FOLLOWED BY DUBAI. THEN I SHOULD CALM DOWN FOR THE RITZ OPENING
James Bond has never been so present than in Turnbull & Asser New York. The most incredible shop that feels as if you are walking into someones home. The photos of Sean Connery posing with what I know now to be an air pistol!! But wearing Turnbull and Asser shirt and suit. Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig, the only one missing is Georges Lazenby who didn't wear Turnbull & Asser, but was the star of, for me, the best Bond film! 'On her Majesty's Secret Service', "Ironie du sort".
I learned so much from James about shirt collar angles and cuffs. I've taken the Prince of Wales collar with the David Niven "cocktail cuffs" for a couple of shirts.
When I drove my first Porsche, when I put the gear stick into first, I understood the quality of Porsche cars. Well, when I put my arms into the Casino Royale dinner shirt that I wore for the évents. I understood the quality of Turnbull & Asser.
I would love to talk about Aston Martins but I have never had that honour except in the passager seat which, I might add, was already super!
We did three nights of total cocktails, not calm but a total tizzy of everyone being there and heavy party style. I had a great team with me. Service was impeccable. Ian Fleming would have been proud.
A last round of the cocktails bars in New York that I have had the honour to work in. The Surrey was good, The Pierre was marvellous, the Carslyle was, the Mark was brilliant. I wish, I wish that I could come back. But Australia and South Africa awaits and I'm so looking forward to working where my father was born.
